About Us

Jackson Elementary School opened in 1975 and was named in honor of Frank William Jackson (1846–1927), a cattleman and community leader and the son of Collin County pioneer John Jackson. Originally from Kentucky, Jackson settled on a farm near Renner in the late 1800s.

Jackson played a significant role in the development of the Renner community. He donated land and financial support for the first school in the area and contributed land for the Methodist Church and the Cotton Belt Railroad. His efforts helped establish important institutions that supported the growth and progress of the community.

In addition to his contributions to local development, Jackson served as the first president of the Texas Ginners’ Association and as president of Renner’s Guaranty State Bank. He also served for many years as president of the Plano school board, demonstrating his strong commitment to education.

In recognition of his dedication to public education and community development, Plano ISD honored Frank William Jackson by naming Jackson Elementary School in his memory.
